Thought for the Day: A while back, we hosted Rev. Geoff Mitchell who is starting a new church outside of Chicago. One of the members at the new church, Chris Baker, is a tattoo artist whose ministry is to help cover up or transform tattoos that were part of a destructive or unhealthy life experience. Just yesterday, Chris got a phone call to remove a sex trafficking tattoo from a 13 year old girl. As Chris put it, “There are no words to describe it…” Take a moment and allow the fact that there are boys and girls, some of them 10 or 11 or 12 or 13 years old, who have become trapped in the sex industry. The thought is horrific, and it is happening in our community and every community in the United States. Let’s be participants in the liberation of all those who are trapped in human trafficking, so that they can add their voices to those who have been freed from oppression. When Jesus spoke of being ‘set free’, he was talking about the whole person – physically, spiritually and emotionally. Let’s join Chris and others in doing whatever we can to make sure another child experiences true freedom.
Prayer: Lord God, you desire to see each of your children set free and living life to the fullest. As your hands and feet upon this earth, help us to help you in this liberating effort. Amen.

Absolutely, Jerry! One of my concerns has been the move to simply push the industry to another town instead of truly stopping what is happening. There are some great programs, and our mayor recently helped to start a new awareness campaign.
