We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
Thought for the Day: In his book, “Giving,” former President Bill Clinton talks about his partnership with former President George H. W. Bush. Clinton writes, “Our partnership seemed to strike a responsive chord in America and around the world, I think because it was an affirmation of our common humanity—not just his and mine as former opponents, but the essential humanity that we all share but too easily forget until something bad happens.” These two men had very different ideologies and outlooks, yet they both were people of faith. Their work together reminds us of God’s call which rises above our tightly held views, and when we are willing to follow this higher calling, much good can be accomplished.
Prayer: Be patient, O God, as you work with me. Help me to release the tight grip I hold on what I perceive to be right, so I might be able to reach out with an open hand to a brother or sister in need. Amen.
