Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations…

Thought for the Day: Trust is something we as humans do not do well. We have a difficult time trusting others, and we often do not embody trustworthiness. If someone we trust has hurt us, it is difficult to become vulnerable again. We put up walls to protect us from ever knowing the pain again.  The scriptures present a God who won’t give in on the issue of trustworthiness, while not giving up on us.  Covenant loyalty is central to God, despite the fact that people will often fail to uphold their side of the relationship. Today, let us be thankful for a God who is trustworthy, and using God as our model, let us seek to create a world where people are trustworthy and relationships grow stronger.

Prayer: Lord God, help me to be trustworthy as you are trustworthy.  Assist me as I keep the commitments I have made.  Amen.
