Scripture: Titus 3:15
All who are with me send greetings to you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you.
Thought for the Day: “You can be rude to those who do not love us in the faith.” That is a rough paraphrase of a preacher who was attempting to give credence to his rather hateful and exclusive theology. He pointed to this verse as a way of arguing why Christian love is intended only for those who are already members of the faith, while judgement and castigation are reserved for those who are outside the faith. This is an example of reading way too much into a passage of scripture. It was a simple blessing, yet too often fringe theologies have turned something as innocuous as a closing benediction into an endorsement of that which opposes the One in whose name the benediction is given.
Prayer: Guide my heart, O God, so the One whose name I take is the One whose life I model. Amen.
