Scripture: Jeremiah 33:8
I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me.
Thought for the Day: We may hear the words, “You are forgiven,” but if the power of guilt remains over us, the gift of forgiveness remains elusive. Guilt is an ugly influence that continues to give power to a past event. God does not wish for us to remain under the unhealthy sway of guilt where our lives are incapable of moving forward. As the prophet Jeremiah spoke on behalf of God, it was made clear that not only were the sins of the people forgiven, but their guilt and shame was being wiped away as well.
Prayer: O God of immeasurable mercy, may your spirit of forgiveness restore me to the wholeness of my original creation. Amen.
