Scripture: Psalm 119:58
I implore your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.
Thought for the Day: On this day in 1969, Apollo 12 was launched from the Kennedy Space Center. This would be the second space flight that would bring human beings to the moon. Though I am too young to remember this moment, one of the things I remember from science class was how the astronauts brought with them the first color video camera, but one of the astronauts pointed it at the sun which made it inoperable. I never heard how Alan Bean, the astronaut who pointed the camera at the sun, apologized for that one…for that was a pretty big screwup. These are moments in history that are important for all of us. It is a reminder of how even the best trained and most knowledgeable people can make a major blunder. I don’t know if NASA ever officially forgave Alan Bean, but according to the heavenly promises, God has already been gracious in the same way God has been gracious amidst all of our major blunders.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord God, for your grace and mercy that allow me to be more than my mistakes. Amen.
