For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Thought for the Day: When I met David (I’ve changed the name to protect the innocent/guilty), he quickly articulated his basic religious values. He said, “I’ve got my boat, my 4-wheeler, my guns, and my Harley. No matter what you try to say, they will always be my first love.” I believed him, and though I don’t wish to belittle David, I think he is a wonderful embodiment of Jesus’ words. The things we value above everything else will control our decision-making and define our values. In our ongoing economic crisis when all of us are a bit anxious, we are given the opportunity to refocus our attention on the treasure that provides meaning and value to self and neighbor. When we begin to treasure the relationships we have with God and one another above all the things of this world, we will find the strength and community support to weather all the difficulties that come our way.
Prayer: In you, O Lord, I find the greatest treasure. May I continue to yearn for you above all other things. Amen.
