Scripture: Isaiah 2:5
O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!
Thought for the Day: Each Sunday of Advent, we light a candle on the Advent Wreath. For centuries, Christians have taken the time to light a candle as a way of representing the growing light of God coming into the world through Christ. We are not the light, but God has invited us to walk within that light. On this Second Sunday of Advent, ask yourself the simple question: Where is God inviting me to step out of the shadows and into the brilliance of love and mercy and kindness. Where is God inviting me to reach into the darkness and gently draw someone else into the light? And for those who won’t come into the light for whatever reason, how might I reflect the light of God into those shadowy place?
Prayer: O Light of the World, continue to shine your blessed gift of light that provides warmth, hope and peace to all who live in the world. Amen.
