Scripture: Luke 1:67-68
Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke this prophecy: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has looked favorably on his people and redeemed them…”
Thought for the Day: Zechariah bursts into a spirit-filled song at the naming of his son, John [the Baptist]. Zechariah had been unable to speak for months, and this song contains the joyous emotions that had been suppressed for a lengthy period of time. The church has glorious news to share, but in many ways this news has been silenced amidst institutional bureaucracy and a misguided sense of purpose. I remain hopeful that one of these days the church will collectively burst into spirit-filled song that will catch the attention of the world.
Prayer: Lord God, may my heart begin to sing a grace-filled tune that will give strength to the ever-growing choir. Amen.
