Ecclesiological Etchings: 12-11-12

Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Luke 1:67-68
Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke this prophecy: “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has looked favorably on his people and redeemed them…”

Thought for the Day: Zechariah burst into a spirit-filled song at the naming of his son, John.  Zechariah had been unable to speak for months, and this song contained the joyous emotions that had been suppressed for so long.  The church has glorious news to share, but in many ways this news has been silenced amidst institutional bureaucracy and a misguided sense of purpose.  I remain hopeful that one of these days the church will collectively burst into spirit-filled song that will catch the attention of the world.

Prayer: Lord God, may my heart begin to sing a grace-filled tune that will give strength to the ever-growing choir.  Amen.
