From Rev. Sheila Gillette
Scripture: Philippians 4:8
Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about it.
Thought for the Day: Yes, life is stressful and even sometimes depressing, but your attitude is your choice. Joy is in you. You may have to dig deep to find it, but it is there. Smile, fill your life with joy. We have so many things for which to be joyful. Count your blessings, make a list. Think about the smell and feel of a newborn baby. Give a hug, hold it with someone you love for at least 20 seconds. Joy hormones will be released in the brain. Remember the season of Advent and the candle of JOY. Joy that a newborn babe, Jesus, will be coming soon. Remember the real meaning of Christmas. Not the presents under the tree, but the joy of lighting a candle on Christmas Eve, singing Silent Night and praising God for his gift- Jesus. Remember happy memories of those you loved, those you still love and are yet to love. Praise God for all that you have had, have now, and will have. Also, remember to pass on that JOY to everyone you see, a smile, a hug, and kind words. It may be the only joy in their day.
Prayer: God on High, bring joy into my life. Help me to look to Jesus, his words, and fix my eyes upon him in this Advent season and be Joyful! Help me spread that joy to others. Amen.
