Thought for the Day: Looking at the date, I realize we are just a little over two weeks left in 2016. I’m not ready for 2017. Oh sure, there are a few things I will be glad to leave behind, but I still feel underprepared and anxious for 2017. Most years I have a similar feeling, but this year it feels a bit more palpable. It is just another day on the calendar and so January 1 shouldn’t carry any real significance, yet we load it with all kinds of power for change and new opportunity. We probably give it too much power and should recognize how each day has the same power for change and new opportunities. Whether it is the right day on the calendar or not, convenient or not, good timing or not, let us be about the work God has put before us. It does not need to wait until January 1, 2017.
Prayer: What a great day it is today – as great as yesterday and tomorrow. As you are born into each day, God of all Time, let me be aware of your presence inviting me to a life of faithfulness in these next 24 hours. Amen.
