Scripture: Matthew 1:21
“She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
Thought for the Day: Joseph had an encounter with an angel, and in that experience he was told what to name the child that Mary carried. The name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua which means: ‘Yahweh is salvation’. A name can convey great meaning – a meaning can invite the one who bears the name to live into the high calling communicated in that one word. As people of faith who claim to be followers of Jesus, we are called to live into his name. Do we not call ourselves Christians? Our live should clearly announce how God loves and saves humanity.
Prayer: I pray that my actions, O Lord, communicate to others your saving grace. Amen.
