Ecclesiological Etchings: 12-18-12

Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Luke 1:46-48
And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;

Thought for the Day: Mary’s song reminds us of how God sees each person, not on some scale of worthiness, but as full of worth, value and beauty.  Charles Dickens wrote the following: “I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.”  How will you view people differently in light of the Christ child?

Prayer: O God of all creation, provide me with divine vision so I can see the value and beauty of all those with whom I travel.  Amen.
