Scripture: Romans 1:9-10
For God, whom I serve with my spirit by announcing the gospel of his Son, is my witness that without ceasing I remember you always in my prayers, asking that by God’s will I may somehow at last succeed in coming to you.
Thought for the Day: The gift of Christ inspired Paul and countless others throughout the centuries to serve fellow human beings, sacrificing on their behalf. It’s funny how we have come to celebrate this great gift by buying gifts this year with next year’s money. I hate to break this to you, but that’s not sacrifice. That’s just bad financial planning. Traditional Christmas morning gift giving is wonderful, but it was never intended to be the embodiment of sacrifice. May the gifts you give and receive this Christmas remind you of God’s great gift, and then nudge you toward genuine sacrificial living for the sake of the world.
Prayer: Lord, we are humbled by your sacrificial love. Challenge our lives so we can better display such far-reaching love. Amen.
