Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: James 3:7-9
For every species of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by the human species, but no one can tame the tongue—a restless evil, full of deadly poison.  With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse those who are made in the likeness of God.

Thought for the Day: In speaking of the different types of people, C.S. Lewis, described the self-serving folks as those “who live simply for their own sake and pleasure,” and it is these people who view others as nothing more than “raw material to be cut up into whatever shape may serve them” (A Short Essay entitled: Three Kinds of Men).  Too often we have forgotten that all humanity was created in the image of God.  The Christ child was born into this world to communicate this profound truth to everyone who seemed okay with viewing others as “raw material to be cut up into whatever shape may serve them.”

Prayer: In your goodness, O Creator God, you have loved us and invited us to treat one another with compassion and grace.  May you provide us with the vision to see your image in all those we meet.  Amen.
