REMINDER: Today is the eighth day in our journey through the 12 days of Christmas (December 25 – January 5). In the dawn of this new day and this new year, how might the gift of Christ come alive in fresh ways, in ways we have yet to imagine?
Scripture: Romans 7:6
But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we are slaves not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.
Thought for the Day: The coming of Christ into the world is an event that speaks to God’s ongoing entry into our lives for the sake of transformation and renewal. The birth of Jesus brought light into darkness; the healing brought by Jesus released many from illness; the teachings shared by Jesus introduced people into a new way of thinking; the tomb that couldn’t contain Jesus revealed life’s victory over death. As we enter into a new year of the calendar, let us be aware of the message disclosed from birth to death to resurrection – that those things associated with God will have the final word over those things that are not of God. The baby born in Bethlehem is just one way God declares that love, joy and peace will ultimately win.
Prayer: With great expectation and maybe a bit of anxiousness, I enter into this new year of life with you, O Lord. Guide me by faith into all the amazing possibilities contained within these next 12 months – possibilities for transformation and renewal. Amen.
