Don’t forget about worship this Christmas Eve…
Scripture: John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Thought for the Day: It is often said that Jesus brought the fullness of life into the world, but do we appreciate what that means? I think Mary Oliver best captured what people might look like if only they chose to embrace the life Jesus brought. She wrote, “I look upon everything as a brotherhood and a sisterhood, and I look upon time as no more than an idea, and I consider eternity as another possibility… When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms … I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.” On this Christmas Eve, let us be a people who do more than simply look beyond this existence in search of the fullness of life. Instead, let us recognize the divine invitation to seize the abundant life today…an invitation that will take us to the stable.
Prayer: Holy Mystery, you request my presence at the nativity of love where the abundant life is fully revealed. May the experience of shepherds, angels and a child inspire me to do more than simply pass through this existence. Amen.
