A Prayer: I breathe in you, Generous God. I breathe in new possibilities. I breathe in a vision of life not constrained by the cacophony of voices that are quick to honor old and life-diminishing ways. I breathe in the reality that any change will be hard and discomforting, but I breathe in you, Generous God. More than 360 days remain in this new year—that’s a lot of hours, a lot of minutes, in which a lot of people could put forth a bit more hope-filled energy. I breathe in your Kin(g)dom, brought to life in a child. I breathe in his words of life, “Love one another,” believing those words to be both the fullness of your Kin(g)dom and the means of fulfilling your Kin(g)dom. I breathe in you, Generous God, and exhale all my apprehension that would have me joining that cacophony of voices that are quick to honor old and life-diminishing ways. I breathe in you, Generous God, believing that with you amazing possibilities are more than possible, but are in fact coming to fruition in and among us. Amen.
