Scripture: Psalm 3:1-3
LORD, I have so many enemies! So many are standing against me. So many are talking about me: “Even God won’t help him.” But you, LORD, are my shield! You are my glory! You are the one who restores me.
Thought for the Day: As people of faith, we claim hope as a central component of our convictions. But claiming it and actually living it are two very different things. We are all hit, in a time of weakness, by hopelessness. It sneaks into every life at one time or another, but in looking over the trajectory of a person’s life – maybe 5 or 10 years – does the life speak to hope? Hope can manifest itself in many ways: acts of forgiveness; working for what appears to be a lost but important cause; sitting patiently and lovingly with a terminally ill person; speaking about the positives in the world even when there appear to be many negatives. Does your life speak to hope? Or is hopelessness a force that shapes your thinking and acting more often than you’d like?
Prayer: May the hope that is Jesus Christ continue to make its way into our lives. This is our prayerful request, O God whose vision for humanity is a vision of hope. Amen.
