ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS
Prayer for the Week: Magnificent God, it is your Spirit that emerges from the ashes – it manifests and becomes visible in the remnant of human lostness and hopelessness. When the world only sees the fragments and dust discarded from brokenness, you show up with a word of life. In the mess and debris left in the wake of grief, rejection, suffering, humiliation and guilt, we turn to you in faith. The hurt may impede our ability to perceive you initially, yet faith allows for us to imagine deep within our souls a life made whole in love. Sit with us in the turmoil that exposes our frailties; gently speak affirmation to us; help create within us a conviction that we are not defined by our lowest moment. While the world may chide and berate us with calls to pull ourselves up, we often need a few moments to breathe. Be the Holy Breath that enters our lungs and our lives. Gracious God, use this Season of Lent as an opportunity to shape us in the ways of Jesus, and where needed, to re-form us in your image. This is the request we make in the name of the Living Word that took on flesh and lived among us. Amen.
