ECCLESIOLOGICAL ETCHINGS

Prayer for the Week: Lord of All Creation, we have become too comfortable in praising you with our lips while ignoring you with the rest of our lives. Make our hands and feet an offering to you and to the ways of Jesus. Reshape how we prioritize our time, how we spend our money and how we use the gifts we have. With a bit of trepidation, we invite your Spirit – the Spirit of the Living Christ – to enter us and to use us for the transformation of the world. Those are lofty sentiments, noble ideas, yet if we are going to take the name of Christ, we are claiming to follow one whose living was lofty and whose sacrifices were noble. By your mercy, we have been liberated. By your love, we have been empowered. By the vision put forth in Jesus, from birth to death to resurrection, we have glimpsed the life of faith, the life we have been called to live. Bind us together as those who yearn to be disciples of Jesus Christ; bind us together as your Spirit-filled church; bind us together for the work of seeing the Reign of Mercy, Love and Justice come to earth. These words are offered with our lips, but with the hope of seeing them realized in every aspect of our lives. Amen.
