Prayer for the Week: A simple message of love and forgiveness unleashed upon a complex and self-obsessed world. What were you thinking when you entrusted this message to those first followers, O Breath of Life. From the beginning, you went straight for those bottom of the barrel kind of folk – the bruised, the unwanted, the discarded. Why not use the powerful and wealthy whose influence could get things done? Could it be that they have too often been the reason why this world is overly complex and self-obsessed? Maybe you welcomed those who were not lost to their own glorification in the belief that love and forgiveness were a power unto themselves, a power capable of transforming the world. If by chance this is true, God, I hope I am not lost and beyond the calling of your simple message. Welcome me into the good work that seeks to glorify you and lift-up the broken-hearted and forgotten. Maybe a simple message of love and forgiveness is all the world needs. Amen.
