Scripture: 3 John 1:2-3
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul. I was overjoyed when some of the friends arrived and testified to your faithfulness to the truth, namely how you walk in the truth
Thought for the Day: Frederick Buechner has always been a companion for me along the journey of faith. His words are often an invitation to think about life from a different perspective – most importantly, to think about it from the perspective of God. Buechner writes in a candid way, often writing from his personal life experiences. Buechner encourages me when he writes, “Pay mind to your life, your own health, and wholeness. A bleeding heart is of no help to anyone if it bleeds to death.” Simply said – taking care of yourself is not selfish if it is done out of respect for the gift you are and the gift God wants you to be in the lives of others. Yes, you are called to share sacrificial love in this world, but if you have nothing to give because you are unhealthy, then you are no good to anyone…including God.
Prayer: When my life-energy is dwindling and I am dragging about, I need you – O Loving God – to put me in a place where I can refuel and be refreshed. Amen.
