Thought for the Day: This has often been viewed as an if-then statement, the divine bargaining chip. Yet how exactly will God listen if we do not call and approach and pray? How are we going to find God if we are not looking? I don’t believe the prophet was suggesting that God had some sort of formula that would guarantee God’s response. Love is never based on formulas. It is love, and love stands alone as this unique relationship power. Love does not tie itself to if-then or bargaining, negotiation or stipulation. Love is this splendid and life-changing experience of interaction, where the usual relational games of manipulation no longer make sense. Pray and call out to God knowing that God will listen. Search with all your being, knowing that God is already about the work of finding you and declaring to your heart that you have been found.
Prayer: Thank you for being my confidant, O Lord whose ears listen. Thank you for being so passionate in seeking me out when I have wandered off and gotten myself lost. Thank you for demonstrating to me a love that breaks the old definitions of love that really have nothing to do with love. Thank you, O Lord. Amen.
