Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Ephesians 6:18-20
Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that when I speak, a message may be given to me to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I must speak.

Thought for the Day: Paul recognized the importance of prayer – not only for the young Christians he was encouraging, but the prayers offered for his work. Paul recognized the connection between prayer and speaking boldly, especially when one is feeling like an ambassador on foreign soil. Cypress Creek Christian Church is a community of believers that appears to have always taken prayer seriously… something that has impressed me. For that reason, I am excited about a new initiative beginning later this month – the KSBJ Christian Radio’s 1 Church 1 Day. We will be joining other churches in NW Houston and praying for our community, fellow congregations, the ministry of the Gospel in our community, and those who lead our churches. Cypress Creek Christian Church has taken the fourth Friday of each month, and so on March 24, we will pray from midnight to midnight. I know some of you have already signed up, but we still need a few more who will take a prayer time. Pat Cooksey will be in Holy Grounds tomorrow with her sign-up sheet. Let’s kick off this new initiative by dowsing our church and community in a continuous prayer.

Prayer: Connect us to you and to one another, O Lord, through the wonderful gift of prayer. In this season of Lent, call us to an even deeper commitment to praying for our congregation and all the good ministries of the Gospel in our community. Amen.
