Scripture: Mark 11:9
Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Thought for the Day: Though the word Hosanna is found in the Greek New Testament, it is in fact a Hebrew word. Actually, it is two Hebrew words combined: Yasha (be delivered) and Na’ (please or we pray). It is a heartfelt cry of those who beseech this man entering Jerusalem – this man about whom they have heard so much. “Please, deliver us! O blessed one who comes in the name of the Lord.” Let’s join the voices of those who shout forth, Hosanna! Let us do so in the belief that God’s extravagant and unconditional love has and continues to deliver us from darkness into light, from despair into hope, from hate into wholeness.
Prayer: Hosanna! Blessed is your name, O Lord. Hosanna is our joyful declaration and prayerful request this day. Amen.
