Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Proverbs 4:18
The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

Thought for the Day: We usually have our ironing board set up in the guest room, but when we have a guest, we move it. This past weekend, my sister was visiting and I put the ironing board in the living room so that I could iron my shirt for Sunday morning. When I got up on Sunday at 4am and there was just a bit of light streaming in from the streetlight, I glanced over at the ironing board with the iron on it, and it looked like something else. I’m not too sure what my mind thought it was seeing, but I jumped and gasped. With just a little light, we may think we are seeing clearly. With a little more light, we see very differently. The path of righteousness does not glow brilliantly at the beginning, yet it is an ever-increasing light that is revealing more and more as we journey. Today, you may believe that you are seeing very clearly along the path of righteousness. It is important not to become too arrogant in our perspective. Keeping arrogance at bay is essential, for as we remain faithful to the walk, new things will come into view. Those things that had startled us at first glance might just become rather benign with a bit more light.

Prayer: Guide me another step along the way. Guide me, Gracious God, that I might walk more fully into your light today, tomorrow and every tomorrow that follows. Amen.

SEE YOU SUNDAY!
