Scripture: Matthew 2:11
They entered the house and saw the child with Mary his mother. Falling to their knees, they honored him. Then they opened their treasure chests and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Thought for the Day: Do you remember a moment in your life when you felt as if you saw Jesus for the very first time? Do you remember a moment when something so new and breath-taking about the love of God revealed in Jesus caught you off guard? Do you remember a moment when, like the magi, you were so humbled by the presence of Jesus that you dropped to your knees (literally or figuratively – for those of us with bad knees)? Do you remember such a moment? My hope and prayer is that we all can remember at least one such moment. Sunday worship will not have a moment like that every week. We don’t spend all are time in mountain top experiences, but we should be able to recall such moments and feed upon them for a lengthy period of time. I imagine the magi talked about that moment for years to come.
Prayer: Provide me moments, O Amazing and Grace-filled God, where I can reconnect with the unconditional and life-giving nature of your love. May such moments continue to feed my spirit and inspire my life. Amen.
