Prayer for the Week: O Source and Witness to Sacrificial Love, the church gathers to make itself ready to disperse and engage everyday life with your extraordinary message. Allow the Spirit to weave itself among us as we seek to follow Jesus into the workplace, our recreation and family time, volunteer hours, the running of errands, our eating and even our sleeping. Continue to remind us of how our individual gifts, though insignificant as compared to the problems of the world, are quite powerful when combined with the Spirit-filled gifts of others. Allow the words of Jesus, who told his disciples how they would accomplish even greater things then he, to create within us a passion to serve you as we serve others. Put the life of Jesus before us, for he is both our mentor and our model, and it is his sacrificial love that changes us from selfish individualism to self-sacrificing love that will change the world. We ask these things with a bit of trepidation, but trusting in the Spirit to encourage us. Amen.
