Since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, this is the reason that I don’t stop giving thanks to God for you when I remember you in my prayers.
Thought for the Day: Today’s devotional might be PG-13…just wanted you to know in advanced. Carrie Fisher, who died a week ago, was someone with whom I’ve grown up. Being a Star Wars freak, she was the First Lady of Science Fiction. Recently I came across a quote from Carrie that was her response to the question: What are the important rules you live by?
Fisher: Be kind. Don’t hurt other people. It’s all the sort of Christian ethics stuff I thought was bull **** when I was a kid. No, it turns out it’s not bull ****. Tell the truth, be kind, all that corny stuff.
For so many people who have rolled their eyes or made some sarcastic remark about the basic teachings of Jesus, there is quite often a moment of realization that such things are really important. In fact, they allow us to live more fully into our humanity. There is something amazing and powerful to know love and to share love and to be that love.
Prayer: Help me to always appreciate the simple and beautiful teachings about love that you, O Lord, have given through Jesus and all his disciples. Amen.
