Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:24
After giving thanks, Jesus broke the bread and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this to remember me.”

Thought for the Day: Just a few days ago, one of my heroes in the faith died. Many of you knew Elie Wiesel, the Holocaust survivor who wrote the powerful book, Night. In the book he stated, “To forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time.” Wiesel was speaking of those who were murdered by the Nazis in the Concentration Camps, but his words ring true for many circumstances, including all those who have been martyred for the faith and Jesus himself. Remembering is absolutely important, for the witness of those we remember is kept alive in more than our memories. It is kept alive in the way it inspires us and forms our decisions and life-choices.

Prayer: Thanks for the way your remember us, O Lord. Allow it to inspire our remembering, specifically those who have lived their lives fully unto you. Amen.
