Sorry, but I realized
that I skipped
vs. 10 of chapter two…
Scripture: Galatians 2:10
They asked only one thing, that we remember the poor, which was actually what I was eager to do.
Thought for the Day: For Paul, it was a no-brainer! For the rest of the Christian community, it was a given. The poor would be remembered, and not just in prayer, but in tangible expressions of compassion. Some might say it was an afterthought, and I could understand how that might be interpreted since it does come at the end of the passage. Instead, I think this verse was a simple clarification of what should be central to all people of faith, no matter their specific theology. At the core of Jesus’ teaching was a love of neighbor through personal sacrifice.
Prayer: Give me a generous heart, O Generous God, so I might release your lavish goodness upon others in tangible and life changing gifts. Amen.
