Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Galatians 4:1-5Galatians-Image
My point is this: heirs, as long as they are minors, are no better than slaves, though they are the owners of all the property; but they remain under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father.  So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental spirits of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children.

Thought for the Day: I remember the first time I took bread out of the oven based not upon the timer, but what it looked like on the outside.  The only thing eatable was the crust.  For God, everything has its time.  God is constantly at work bringing the created order closer to God’s hope and dream, but for certain things to occur, other things need to first happen.  Everything has its time, and those of us living today are blessed because of what others did before us.  The question for us today is what are we helping to create that we will never see come to fruition, yet another generation will be blessed because of what we did.  Yesterday, our denomination witnessed another step toward inclusion, a step God has been working to make happen for decades.

Prayer: Thank you, O Lord, for those who helped to bring blessings to me.  May I take their example and help to nurture the soil so that another generation may experience blessings of grace and welcome that have yet to be imagined.  Amen.

 Today Is The Last Day
Of Our General Assembly.

Pray for all participants,
so they can take home
a new word of grace
to their local congregation.
