Ecclesiological Etchings

Devotional by Sheila Gillette
Scripture: Romans 5:20-21
“The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Thought for the Day: When I read that scripture, really read it and seek understanding, it says: “there is always more grace in God, than there is sin in us.” Wow, that is powerful! Grace is abundant, like the song “East to West” by Casting Crowns. Our sin is cast as far as the east to the west. Think about that! The east and west never meet- it is infinity. For God’s Grace, remember this acronym:

Go to God- ask for what you need
Remember that you are a loved child of God
Accept your acceptance by God
Connect with fellow Christians
Embrace the life God has given you.

Prayer: God of Grace, Help me to remember that you love me and that I am your child. When I mess up, help me to remember that I can always go to You, God, and ask for your forgiveness and you will grant me grace. If I mess up again and again— there is no limit to the grace you will grant me when I go to YOU. In Jesus Name, Amen.
