Scripture: 2nd Corinthians 9:14-15
They will also pray for you, and they will care deeply for you because of the outstanding grace that God has given to you. Thank God for his gift that words can’t describe!

Thought for the Day: Have you ever received a real gift? I’m not talking about one that can be given monetary value, but a genuine gift. Paul speaks about the gift of grace that words can’t describe, and though he doesn’t say it, it is the gift that money cannot buy. Today I celebrate another one of those gifts, a priceless gift that still has me aimlessly grasping for words to describe my awestruck wonder. Today is my son, Zachariah’s birthday. Fourteen years ago, we received word from Guatemala that a child had been born. We knew nothing of him. In fact, they originally gave us the incorrect birth date. Yet even though our eyes had not seen him nor our hands touched him, he was a precious and priceless gift. Oh sure, in these early teenage years there are occasions when you begin to second guess the preciousness, but even with an occasional sassy mouth and reluctance to do homework, he is a gift that words cannot described. Maybe that’s the reason that some have suggested that a child is God’s grace with little fingers and toes.

Prayer: With your help, Gracious God, may I appreciate the true gifts of life; may I recognize and give you thanks for the gifts of immeasurable value. Amen.
