But if a person has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need and that person doesn’t care—how can the love of God remain in him?
Thought for the Day: Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” How many of us are making a living but not a life? My biggest fear is looking back over the years and realizing that I thought I was making a life when in fact I was not. In the day-to-day grind, we have plans of getting to that point when we can be generous and give away more and more of who we are and what we have. People’s intentions are good, but things happen that derail these good intentions. We say to ourselves, “Maybe next year.” Well I don’t think most of us wish to arrive in our last year of life and think to ourselves, “I don’t have another year to make it happen.”
Prayer: Give me a place to begin, O Light of the World. Provide me a entry place where I am challenged, but not overwhelmed. And then continue to nudge me along the way so that my way of making a living can be used to make a life. Amen.
