Ecclesiological Etchings

Prayer for the Week: Where have I sinned and fallen short of your glory, O Lord? Where has my life failed to tell the story of Jesus and his love? Where have you attempted to utilize my gifts, and I refused the effort of your Spirit? I am thankful for your mercy, O God of All Creation, as my life has not always been what I would have liked it to be, let alone, what you expected it to be. So often a narrowness of vision, perspective or attitude has highly restricted my ability to perceive you and your Good News at work. I have created an ill-conceived frame of reference; held an unhealthy and judgmental viewpoint; been shaped by my fears of what I do not understand; undercut the dignity of another only because I was insecure with my self. Forgive me, God, and in your grace, do not give up on me. Through the power of your relentless and unconditional love, change me where I need to be changed; reinforce those places where I am fatigued; augment the work I do with the giftedness of others; keep me humble; allow me to see the amazing beauty of every single human being. There is clearly some work to be done, so give me Jesus as a mentor and model for my life. Utilize what I have for your Kingdom work, and empower me so that my life tells the story of Jesus and his love. It is in his name that I offer these words. Amen.
