Prayer for the Week: Psalm 118 proclaims:
This is the day the LORD has made;
we will rejoice and celebrate in it!
O Lord, you are the source of creativity,
and we acknowledge your artistic presence
in this moment of life.
By faith, we give witness to your work of
mending and shaping,
reimagining and renovating,
reconciling and making new.
Allow for us to perceive your loving purpose
in the creative work of your Spirit,
but let us also make note of how your
spiritual renovation within us
is intended to give purpose to us.
You have created this day
with opportunities too numerous to count.
Allow us to see such opportunities
as more than occasions
for self-serving acquisition.
Give us spirits that rejoice and celebrate
in opportunities for selfless giving
and Christ-like living.
Give us hearts that rejoice and celebrate
in such a way that others experience
your divine purpose at work through us.
We offer these words of prayer
in the name of and to the glory of Jesus Christ,
your fullest expression of purpose –
purpose enfleshed for us to see.
