Scripture: Psalm 82:3-4
Give justice to the lowly and the orphan; maintain the right of the poor and the destitute! Rescue the lowly and the needy. Deliver them from the power of the wicked!
Thought for the Day: Have you been glued to the news about the twelve boys and their coach in Thailand? I had been flipping to a news website about every hour to see if there was an update, and early today, I was shocked and overjoyed to see that the boys had been found in the cave alive. I was trying to maintain hope these last nine days, but there is that part of us as humans that continually erodes at hope…the skepticism and pessimism that resides within us. The part that was keeping the hopelessness at bay was the international rescue efforts. There is something about nations and corporations coming together that gives hope. In a self-serving and what’s in it for me world, there are moments of hope when people put aside differences and greed for the sake of those in need. Boys needed to be rescued, and at least in this moment of time, we did as God expected us to do. Keep the prayers going…
Prayer: May all the things that divide us fall away, O God of Eternal Love, especially when there is a need that requires us to come together as one. Amen.
