Scripture: Ephesians 6:15
…and put shoes on your feet so that you are ready to spread the good news of peace.
Thought for the Day: Frederick Buechner is one of the great voices in Christianity, and he wrote, “Where your feet take you, that is who you are.” There are plenty of folks who will tell you who they are, but the path they travel appears to be headed in a very different direction. No one is perfect, and we always need to be cautious about casting the first stone. At the same time, our culture seems to have confused forgiveness with acceptance of the wrong…especially when the bad behavior or lying or _______ (fill in the blank) continues to happen and people are injured. I’m not suggesting we stop forgiving. Forgiveness is not contingent upon someone’s confession of sin or repentance. At the same time, forgiveness is not offered as cover to continue unhealthy or destructive behavior. May our forgiveness be offered alongside our faithful walk, so that together they may present both a new path and the means to join that new path.
Prayer: Giver of Strength and Perseverance, allow our lives to be an alternative for those who need forgiveness and need to live as those who have received forgiveness. Amen.
