Prayer for the Week (Rev. Tami Nelson): God, Creator of us all. Walk with us as we encounter and interact with all your children. Open our eyes to see the stories of the children in our congregation, community, and all creation. Give us a spirit of courage and compassion to become advocates for those who can’t advocate for themselves. Help us to look beyond the sensationalism of tragedy but to see the opportunity to show love, support and provide hope for even just one. As children, educators, and support staff embark on a new year of learning, fun and fellowship with peers , we pray a hedge of protection for their success and safety. Lord let them know that there is a community of believers praying for them. Let your example of caring for the lost sheep be our guide in our response to our children now and forever more. In your precious son Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
