Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:13-14
We have the same faithful spirit as what is written in scripture: I had faith, and so I spoke. We also have faith, and so we also speak. We do this because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus, and he will bring us into his presence along with you.
Thought for the Day: God is in the business of raising. New life, resurrection, rebirth, and raised up are just a few ways of talking about how it is that God works. We look to the defining event in Jesus Christ, and there we see a God who raised Jesus from the dead. This could have been claimed as a unique event in the history of the world. One and done, and don’t expect more. But the very nature of God wants to see all of creation released from what ensnares it and keeps it from fulfilling its life purpose. There are plenty of things that seek to entomb us, including death itself. But the event of Jesus was not to be viewed as what God did, but what God does. That slight change in perspective can dramatically change a person’s attitude and relationships.
Prayer: God of the empty tomb, let me continue to grow in my understanding of what is meant by the words, “You are the God of the empty tomb.” Amen.
