Prayer for the Week:
Deception — Fraud
Betrayal — Deceit
Injury that we did not see coming;
Injury we never imagined occurring.
O God
who loves us beyond measure,
you have invited us
into the fullness of life,
and such fullness
is manifest and exhibited
in life-giving relationships.
You invite us to be vulnerable;
to be accessible;
to risk for the sake of
this human connectedness.
We take the risk,
and then we are wounded
by another.
We take the risk,
and we are left empty,
disillusioned,
despondent.
In Christ Jesus,
you know the pain of betrayal.
You know and understand
what it is like
to be hung out to die.
Allow us to find in you
a Spirit of empathy.
Allow us to find in you
the healing that is required
to once again risk.
Amen.
