Scripture: Ephesians 2:10Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.
Thought for the Day: Today I give thanks for people who are creative and use that creativity to push the walls of the proverbial box. Today is the second day of the Dickens Market here at the church. This wonderful tradition has allowed the Channel Choir to raise money for its concerts, including paying for musicians (orchestra). Last year, the event moved off campus because of the flood. This year it was brought back, but with very different space restrictions. No gym; no annex. Debbie Rawlins and her team got creative, looking at the available campus in a completely different way. It required changes, but it is back on campus and the weather is perfect (I don’t believe Debbie was capable of producing good weather, but maybe). Let’s be honest – there are many folks who have tossed in the towel because it couldn’t be done the way it had always been done. This is fear or laziness or an inability to think differently. Whatever the case, I don’t believe this is the way we were created. God shaped us to do good works, yet these good works don’t always fit neatly into the original plan. Again, I give thanks for people who are creative and use that creativity to push the walls of the proverbial box.
Prayer: Thank you, O Lord, for being the Spirit of Creativity that animates our thinking in such a way that dead ends are neither dead nor endings. Instead, they are opportunities to be a part of the new thinking and new dreaming that you are offering. Amen.
