Scripture: Matthew 24:40
And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
Thought for the Day: I had lunch with Marshall Martin a few days ago, and I was really moved by a project to which he has committed. Marshall is an active member of the church and currently serving as an Elder. That is marvelous, but I was struck by his decision to participate in a 25 mile hike from the North Rim to the South Rim across the Grand Canyon. He has chosen this challenge as a way of raising awareness and money for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Marshall writes,
I have decided to take on this challenge after some very dear and lifelong friends asked that I join them… You may be familiar with my friends Marc and Margarete. The Cassalinas have transformed themselves into nationally known advocates in the fight against the debilitating lung disease that their son, Eric (who’s now 24 years old) battles every day. Their story is particularly heartbreaking: The disease also claimed the life of their daughter, Jena in 2006 when she was just 13 years old. In 2009, Margarete chronicled their family’s journey in the inspirational book, Beyond Breathing.
Marshall and his wife, Lisa, have two beautiful and healthy children. As busy parents, it would be easy to ignore or just toss a little sympathy toward another family in need. But Marshall (with Lisa’s support) took on this challenge because of his wider vision of the family of faith. Marshall is one of those people who sees the responsibility we all have in caring for each and every child in the world. And though each of us cannot care for every single one of them, here is an example of making a tangible difference in the lives of many.

But if anything, I hope you will pray for Marshall on the weekend of May 21-22 when he makes his 25 mile trek.
This is just one example of the way members of Cypress Creek Christian Church are choosing to put love first for the sake of others.
Prayer: For all those who choose to act for the least among us, I am thankful, O Gracious God. May such work continue to transform people, communities, nations and the world. Amen.
