Scripture: Psalm 96:1-4
O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all gods.
Thought for the Day: On this day in 1840, the first official adhesive postage stamp was released. To be honest, that piece of trivia sounds rather irrelevant. Yet many discoveries that were once amazing become, over time, rather mundane. The spectacular becomes ho-hum, and in time, we forget that at one point it was quite spectacular. Now I wouldn’t want to say that God has become ho-hum, but our faith can so easily become routine and we forget that at one point it was quite spectacular. Let us renew our faith in the God worthy of our singing, our declarations, and our praise.
Prayer: O Great are you, O Lord, and you are deserving of our praise. May the joy we felt in first knowing you and your love be the joy we feel throughout this day. Let us never become ho-hum in regard to our relationship with you for you are worthy of our praise. Amen.
