Ecclesiological Etchings

Scripture: Mark 16:2-4
Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they came to the tomb. They were saying to each other, “Who’s going to roll the stone away from the entrance for us?” When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away. (And it was a very large stone!)

Thought for the Day: What a remarkable, indeed miraculous occurrence!  But what does this passage really mean to me?  Sometime ago while in the library of Cypress Creek, we were studying one of the masters who said that the story of the bible is the story of every man.  So how does this story relate to me?

Perhaps it is saying that God will roll away the boulders, the impenetrable barriers that keep us from getting out. It is always difficult for me for me to conceive that a God so large that He could create the earth and the universe would have time to move even a pebble for me. But this passage states otherwise. To me, a big part of believing is faith. Faith that God has time, God cares and that God indeed will remove the boulders for us if we will let him.  If we can just accept that God’s power and good are so much larger than we can understand, we just need to set our sights on God and he will move the boulders for us.
