Scripture: John 14:12
Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.
Thought for the Day: I shared this information before, but it is important to restate it. The word we translate as believe is Pisteuo. It is often thought of as trust or to have confidence, but it really goes far beyond those ideas. Pisteuo is about entrusting and committing one’s life to another. Some have suggested that we can translate it as belove Jesus/God. When you are in love, it is not an intellectual exercise of decision-making. It is an incredible mix of uncontrollable emotion, deep seated joy and devotion. It is a response to a God, who in Jesus Christ, demonstrated how we were first loved with an unconditional love. Our belief is more than just a mental exercise by which we come to understand the meaning of that idea. It is our hearts exploding because we have experienced firsthand what this means.
Prayer: I wish to know you, O Father God, as one who has experienced your love firsthand. Amen.
