Scripture: Psalm 33:13-14
The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind. From there the Lord sits enthroned watching all the inhabitants of the earth…
Thought for the Day: I think we have all looked to the sky as sunlight was streaming through the clouds and thought, “It looks like the glory of God shining down.” In fact, I had that very experience the other day as the rain clouds were breaking and giving way to some blue sky. As young children, we placed God just on the other side of the clouds. Some of you, on your first airplane ride, gazed out the window wondering if you might gain a glimpse of God. The author and expert on faith formation, James Fowler, often suggested that most adult Christians are still living a 3rd or 4th grade faith. I know Jesus speaks about having the faith of a child, but is that to suggest that we should not struggle with what our faith means in a complex world with amazing scientific discoveries and challenging ethical questions? Might a strict up and down view of reality have us looking to the sky when our eyes should be searching the world immediately around us?
Prayer: Continue to challenge my faith, O Lord of Creation, that I might grow in my faith each day of life. Amen.
